Asada Benji 麻田辨次, 1899-1984.
Benji Asada is a typical Kyoto painter and printmaker. He received his art training at Kyoto City School of Fine Arts and Crafts and Kyoto City Specialist School of Painting. Benji Asada was an honor student of Goun Nishimura. In 1927 he changed his name from Benji Nakanishi to Benji Asada. His artist's name is Tangyu 丹牛. He also worked in Japanese-style painting.
His son Asada Takaji is a Japanese-style painter and lithographer. Another son, Asada Hiroshi, is a Western-style painter and etcher.
